Master of Islamic Banking and Finance

 

Master of Islamic banking and finance supports the current initiative to champion Malaysia as an Islamic finance hub by leveraging on both conventional finance and Shari’ah compliance regulation to promote resilient and sustainable marketplace. The program is the first postgraduate Islamic banking and finance program offered by a public institute of higher learning. Candidates with non-shariah background but are interested to embark on the program will have to go for phase 1 before they are able to proceed to the normal track (phase 2). This program is also recognized by IBFIM as an equivalent to its Associate Qualification in Islamic Finance (AQIF) Professional certification. Students may apply to get the certification with minimum amount of fee paid.

AA706 Full Time

  • Bachelor (Hons) degree or its equivalent qualification with minimum CGPA of 3.00 from UiTM or a university recognized by UiTM Senate or;
  • Work experience of at least one (1) year if CGPA is 2.80 or equivalent or;
  • Work experience of three (3) years with a minimum CGPA of 2.60 or equivalent or;
  • Work experience of five (5) years with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent or;
  • Fulfill Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) admission process for Master’s Degree in related area.
  • Candidates from Non-Bachelor (Hons) Degree in Islamic Banking or Islamic Finance or its equivalent from related disciplines will need to take the Pre-requisite Courses as below:

    1. Usul Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence)
    2. Introduction to Fiqh Muamalat
    3. Qawaid Fiqhiyyah (Islamic Legal Maxims)
    4. Islamic Theology

AA706 Part-Time (Executive)

  • Bachelor (Hons) degree or its equivalent qualification with minimum CGPA of 3.00 from UiTM or a university recognized by UiTM Senate or;
  • Work experience of at least one (1) year if CGPA is 2.80 or equivalent or;
  • Work experience of three (3) years with a minimum CGPA of 2.60 or equivalent or;
  • Work experience of five (5) years with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent or;
  • Fulfill Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) admission process for Master’s Degree in related area.
  • Candidates from Non-Bachelor (Hons) Degree in Islamic Banking or Islamic Finance or its equivalent from related disciplines will need to take the Pre-requisite Courses as below:

International applicants are required to obtain a minimum:

  • TOEFL certificate with a score of at least 550 for (paper based) or 213 (computer based) or 80 (IBT); or
  • IELTS certificate with at least Band 6.0; or
  • MUET Band 4.0
  • Any English Language Test which is equivalent to B2 in Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR)
  • Candidate who does not have TOEFL or IELTS is required to attend six (6) months English Proficiency Class (EC) prior to enrolment to the program. Upon completion of the EPC program, candidate needs to sit for TOEFL/IELTS/MUET examination with the score as stated above.

Candidates (normal track) need to complete a total of 42 credit hours of coursework. The total credit hours include program core and specialization courses (36 credit hours) and elective courses (6 credit hours). Those from Non-Bachelor (Hons) Degree in Islamic Banking or Finance will undergo pre-requisite courses with additional 12 credit hours.

Duration Of Study & Mode Of Delivery

Candidates may complete the MIBF program within 3 semesters to 5 semesters depending on their degree qualification. This program is conducted on both full time and part time basis and is delivered using different learning modes – lectures, case study, experiential learning, group and individual project assignments, seminars, industry talks etc.
