REPESEA National Conference 2019

On 2nd October 2019, the REPESEA National Conference was held at Grand BlueWave Hotel, Shah Alam. The conference was organized by Arshad Arshad Ayub Graduate Business School (AAGBS), UiTM, funded by the ERASMUS+ Capacity Building in Higher Education REPESEA project.

Three lecturers from AAGBS, namely, Professor Dr Rosmimah Mohd Roslin, Professor Dr Noormala Amir Ishak and Associate Professor Dr Tan Peck Leong who are the REPESEA project research members, were instrumental in organizing this conference. The conference theme was Assessing and Improving Research Performance at South East Asian Universities. The Dean of AAGBS, Professor Dr Nor’Azam Mastuki officiated the event which saw two speakers presenting topics relating to research performance assessment. The first speaker was Professor Dr Shaliza Ibrahim, the Associate Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation) from Universiti Malaya. She spoke on “Research Impact Assessment in Higher Institutions – The Way Forward”.

The second speaker was Associate Professor Dr Tan Peck Leong who is a REPESEA research member from AAGBS. His presentation topic was “Assessment of Research Impact: SAIQoR”. A total of 50 participants from various higher institutions in Malaysia attended the conference. They were researchers and lecturers from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Universiti Selangor, International Islamic University Malaysia, Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Universiti Tenaga Nasional, INTI International Universiti College, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, Management & Science University, Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation, Asia School of Business, Universiti Malaya and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. There were also a few participants from the industry namely from Microsoft Malaysia and Zona Pharmacy. The conference participants had a fruitful discussion and networking session with the speakers and fellow participants during the program. The conference was a success and achieved its intended objectives. The management of AAGBS was deeply thankful to ERASMUS+ REPESEA for financing the conference.
