In September 2017, I was given the opportunity to participate in a student exchange program (a semester abroad) in Malaysia. Not knowing the country, I was a bit sad to not be located in Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur. But this, in fact, turned out to be the best thing that happened to me. The city of Shah Alam is genuinely one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in. Not only because of the great food I enjoyed, but especially because of the awesome people I met there.
AAGBS turned out to be a great experience too. Being one of the few international students at the school, I was warmly welcomed by all the students, staff and lecturers. They immediately made me feel like I belonged and helped me in everything I needed. Eventually, I hung out a lot with some student friends. I really enjoyed life at campus, especially in the evenings at Seksyen 7 where I would find all the students from the university.
I still keep contact with many of my student friends from Malaysia including the lecturers. I hope that one day I’ll be able to come back to this vibrant city.

Being a participant of the Dual-Masters program between UiTM and HFT Stuttgart was a rewarding experience and a fruitful journey in my student life. Discovering new cultures and norms which are totally opposite of ours in Malaysia has broadened my views and perspectives. The Deutsch people showed me how things are done differently there. Despite being an international student, I was welcomed and treated like a local. In class particularly, everyone is treated equally and given the opportunity to be part of the learning process.
In HFT itself, the lecturers welcome students to communicate with them as frequently as possible. As most of them has at least 10 years of industry experience or are still working with the industry, they provide valuable guidance to students on work placement upon graduation and even to help students to secure jobs with the MNCs. As a former Dual-Masters student, I highly recommend this journey to my juniors as this program will help them to sharpen and broaden their knowledge. Moreover, a student with the Dual-Masters scroll would definitely stand out more.

11 months at AAGBS in Shah Alam have given me a great opportunity to receive a deep insight into the Malaysian culture, to explore the country and to get to know the Malaysian business environment while pursuing my dual master’s degree in General Management and Business Administration.
Interesting and diversified lectures allowed me to exchange views with the Malaysian lecturers and my fellow students on business practices, the economy and the differences in culture between Germany and Malaysia. Fieldtrips and business talks with guest speakers from various industries supplemented the lectures and provided us students with the opportunity to apply what we have learnt during the lectures.
After the lectures at AAGBS, I spent a lot of time with my fellow students, exploring the Malaysian cuisine, playing tennis at the UiTM campus, going for karaoke and bowling nights, strolling around the big shopping malls and immersing into the hectic life of Kuala Lumpur. At the weekends, I enjoyed the Malaysian hospitality while travelling around Malaysia and was overwhelmed by its rich culture.
The dual degree programme of my home university HFT Stuttgart and AAGBS at UiTM Shah Alam enriched my personal as well as my professional life and gave me a chance to widen my horizon.
A unique experience not to be missed!
