The 3rd Arshad Ayub Graduate Business School International Conference on Business Management (AiCoBM 2021) - Virtual
AiCoBM 2021 was organised by Arshad Ayub Graduate Business School (AAGBS) of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam, Malaysia. This virtual conference was held recently on the 5th and 6th of October 2021. It was attended by close to 60 local and international participants comprising distinguished guests and keynote as well as guest speakers, paper presenters, faculty members, students and conference organizers. The conference, whose theme was "Advancing Business Knowledge towards a Sustainable Future: Harmonizing Academic & Applied Practices”, was officiated by Prof. ChM. Dr. Hadariah Bahron, the Assistant Vice Chancellor (Internationalization) UiTM Global.
AiCoBM2021 brought together scholars, professionals and postgraduate students from the business and management field. Over the two days, participants of the virtual conference engaged in an intellectual discourse where theories and practices were discussed and debated, ideas and experiences in areas of business and management were shared and research findings were presented. There were three parallel sessions in which a total of 39 papers were presented. The papers were sorted according to the following tracks:
- Marketing, Consumer Behavior and Entrepreneurship
- Management, Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management and other related business studies
- Finance, Accounting and Economics
- Islamic Finance and Islamic Banking
- Quality, Operations, Technology and Green Management
On the first day of the conference, the Keynote Address was given by Professor Dr Georg Hauer, a Professor of Business Administration, General Management and Management Accounting at Stuttgart University of Applied Science, Germany. Professor Dr Hauer presented his insights on “Sustainable Business: Requirement and Opportunity”. This keynote address was followed by a talk given by the conference’s first guest speaker, Professor Khaeruddin Sudharmin titled “Business Management and Sustainability: A Treacherous Mirage or a Promising Oasis”. Professor Khaerudin Sudharmin FCILT is a global thought leader and a hands-on corporate professor with more than 40 years of corporate/GLC credentials behind his name. Another guest speaker, Professor Dr Mohamad Akram Laldin was invited for the second day of AiCoBM2021 to deliver his talk on “Value-Based Intermediation in Islamic Finance”. He is currently the Executive Director of International Shariah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) and a Professor at International Center for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF). The conference participants gained a lot of knowledge from these three sessions.
The second and last day of the conference saw the third parallel session and the closing ceremony held. At the closing ceremony, the Dean of Arshad Ayub Graduate Business School, Professor Dr Syed Jamal Abdul Nasir Syed Mohamad was invited to deliver his closing speech. He was grateful for the successful organization of the international conference and urged more such conferences to be held in the future as it was a platform where intellectually stimulating discussion was held and networking among academics, researchers and industry experts was established.
During the closing ceremony, the Chairman of AiCoBM2021, Associate Professor Dr Abdul Rahman Abdul Rahim announced the recipients of the Best Paper and Best Presenter Awards. A total number of 5 papers won the Best Paper Award (one paper representing one conference track) and 9 presenters were gifted with the Best Presenter Award. He also thanked the AiCoBM2021 committee members who were involved in making this conference a success.
