Another AAGBS lecturer Associate Professor Dr Nor Hashima Hashim has shared her photos taken during her stint as Visiting Professor in ICO NIDA, Bangkapi, Thailand. As with Dr Carol, Associate Prof Dr Nor Hashima taught ASEAN Studies course at ICO NIDA and has found the experience to be wonderful.

ICO NIDA has many foreign students and her full-time class was made up of Germans, Chinese from China, Filipino and Thais. Most of the students understood English which made it easy for her to conduct her class. The students were eager to learn and the discussion in class was usually very interactive and engaging. We are proud of you Associate Professor Dr Nor Hashima Hashim!

I arrived from Shah Alam, Malaysia in May 2019 to the unseasonably high temperatures here in International College of NIDA (ICO NIDA) University, Bangkapi, Thailand. This was my first experience as a Visiting Professor in another country and I felt as if I had a daunting task ahead of me. However, my first impressions of the University were very good, as everything was located within walking distance, for example, the food court, the library, my accommodation, the boat taxi and the ever popular 7- Eleven!!

Teaching ASEAN Studies course at ICO NDA has been a wonderful opportunity. ICO NIDA has many foreign students and my full-time class was made up of Germans, Chinese from China, Filipino and Thai students. Most of the students understood English which made it easy for me to conduct my class. I found the students eager to learn and the discussion in class was usually very interactive and engaging. Although some students had difficulty expressing themselves, they took the effort to join in the discussions.

I have made some very valuable connections with lecturers at ICO NIDA for future collaborations. Also, being in another country, surrounded by different culture and surroundings has provided me with invaluable insights. This Visiting Professor stint was a privilege and a great opportunity and I highly recommend all lecturers to experience the staff mobility program.
