Wassim El Maaboud In September 2017, I was given the opportunity to participate in a student exchange program (a semester abroad) in Malaysia. Not knowing the country, I was a bit sad to not be located in Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur. But this, in fact, turned out to be the best thing that happened to me. The city of Shah Alam is genuinely one of the nicest places I have ever stayed in. Not only because of the great food I enjoyed, but especially because of the awesome people I met there. AAGBS turned out to be a great experience too. Being one of the few international students at the school, I was warmly welcomed by all the students, staff and lecturers. They immediately made me feel like I belonged and helped me in everything I needed. Eventually, I hung out a lot with some student friends. I really enjoyed life at campus, especially in the evenings at Seksyen 7 where I would find all the students from the university. I still keep contact with many of my student friends from Malaysia including the lecturers. I hope that one day I’ll be able to come back to this vibrant city.
